Born in Seattle, Washington, Robert is a graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Business Administration. He first came to the Big Island in the mid 70’s and immediately fell in love with the beauty of the island and it’s people.
He began a nursery and landscaping business, that took his talents to many of the islands in the Hawaiian chain. An entrepreneur in his own right, he started one of the first palm nurseries on the island and served as an active member of the International Palm Society. This is a love that sticks with him today, and although he claims his Latin isn’t quite as sharp as it used to be, he could stil dazzle the average guy with the botanical names of most palms on the island.
In 1981 he developed an interest in real estate. Robert was top sales agent before starting Orchid Isle Properties in 1988. He quickly rose to the position of a top producer in all of East Hawaii and his firm has consistently ranked as one of the top producing companies in East Hawaii. Despite his modesty about his achievements, C. Brewer & Company, Ltd. (Hawaii’s oldest corporations) saw in him the experience, commitment and integrity they needed to market their lands. They contracted him as their exclusive listing broker from 1993 through 2002 when they liquidated.
Robert’s accomplishments are lengthy, he served on the Governor of Hawaii’s Economic Revitalization Task Force, has been the recipient of Prudential’s coveted Chairman’s Circle 8 times, placing him in the top 1% of Prudential’s 60,000 agents. In 2001 he was honored with Prudential Real Estate Affiliates “Legend Award”. That same year he won the “Cornerstone Award” for Operational Excellence. Again in 2004 he earned the "Core Values Award". He is also a 3 time winner of the Ho’oula Award (Hawaii’s Fastest fifty growing companies). Robert also captured the Roundtable Award in 2005, having lead the company to rank as one of the top 3 companies in the entire Western Region, the competition was comprised of 445 PREA offices and based on the number of transactions closed for the year. Again in 2009 the Roundtable Award was given for the #2 company in the Western Region. Additionally to his credit, he was President of the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors in 1993 (HIBR), Realtor of the Year in 1994, a Director of HIBR for six years and a Trustee of RPAC for four years. Most recently, he has lead the company to be ranked as "The Number One Real Estate Company" in East Hawaii for 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 from Honoka`a to Volcano, Prudential Orchid Isle Properties had the highest total sales volume according to the Hawaii Information Service (our mls). POIP has also lead the last three years as the #1 real estate office for units sold island wide. Currently he is serving on the Government Affairs Commitee for the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors. He was the driving force behind creating the new Owner Builder Law signed by the Governor on April 20, 2010 that went into effect on July 1, 2010.
He is an active community member and most recently served as President of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce 2007/2008. He is also a member of both the Japanese and Portuguese Chambers of Commerce. Robert is actively involved in development and has a number of successful projects under his belt. He resides with his wife, Syleste, along the Hamakua Coast and spends much of his free time landscaping his own 4.5 acres. He is also an avid golfer and he says he enjoys the beauty of Hawaii’s courses as much as the game itself. In his true humble style, when asked to what he contributes his success, he will tell you that it is his “top-notch sales agents, desirable inventory and a good support team”. Robert has proven repeatedly that his word is as good as gold, someone you can trust with a handshake.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Pasadena California, home of the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Bowl. Meg graduated from Pasadena High School, where high school football games and High School graduations took place in the Rose Bowl.
Meg graduated from UC San Diego in La Jolla California with a B.A.degree in Philosophy and an emphasis in Mathematics. Then she decided to find some marketable skills and attended and graduated from the Institute for Paralegal Training in Philadelphia PA less than a year later.
Meg spent the next three years living in Vermont working as a paralegal with several outstanding attorneys, including the subsequent Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court. Many days were spent at dozens of county seats researching title records. Unlike Hawaii with one recording office in the entire state, Vermont land transactions were recorded in each County and attorneys handled all closings, with paralegals or rookie attorneys providing the legal descriptions.
After three years in Vermont, she got really COLD and extended her Christmas trip to California by going to Hawaii to visit an old friend, Bob, who was living and working in Honolulu. Bob and Meg had known each other all their lives, their families were close friends. She then moved to Honolulu 4 months later in April 1977, and they married in 1978.
Working again as a paralegal in Honolulu, Meg specialized in real estate and litigation. As so much of the work had the emphasis in real estate, she went ahead and got a real estate license, and continued working as a paralegal with an inactive license.
In 1983 she and her husband moved to Southern California because of a work promotion, they stayed there for the next 10 years. Working with two very successful mortgage bankers in Orange County, Meg was the Closing and Loan Servicing coordinator for one and worked in Underwriting Quality Control for the second much larger firm. In 1994 Meg moved to Hilo with her husband taking a job at W.H. Shipman. She went to work in the public school system in elementary and high school special education classes.
In 1999 Meg took a part time role with C. Brewer to work with their real estate division. Her primary function was to update and organize title information for all the land owned by CBL and it’s subsidiaries. Much of it had never been searched and many titles were broken. Working with a Honolulu attorney and Title Guarantee’s long search division to clear titles. She developed an inventory of insurable lands for the company to sell.
In 2003 Meg reactivated her real estate license. Three years later in 2006, she sat for her broker’s license and had been the Broker-In-Charge and Principal Broker for a Hilo real estate company until joining Prudential Orchid Isle Properties in January 2009.
Meg’s goal is to help clients understand the real estate landscape so well that they feel confident in making their decisions, whether buying or selling. She loves working with buyers, because she loves to listen and shop to find great deals! Meg is equally comfortable working with sellers as she brings a maturity to the relationship and can enable clients to trust and respect her advice, opinions and work ethic.
Meg finds the independence and self motivation requirements of real estate deeply satisfying. Every time she can put people together with the right property, the matchmaking process, and work through the details to a successful closing, she finds renewed energy.
For fun, her passion is playing tennis. She started playing when her daughter went to pre-school, close to 20 years ago. Today Meg plays recreationally at least 3 times a week (weather permitting) and on several USTA leagues. She served as captain of the Hilo Yacht Club Women’s 4.0 and Senior Women’s 4.0 teams for several years and sits on the HYC Athletics Committee as the tennis chair.
Meg also loves to twitter around in the garden and spend far too many hours on video games. Her son has an even greater addiction to games and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at SMU in Interactive Technology – video game design. Her daughter is a student at HCC in the Culinary Arts program and lives at home. Her husband, Bob works for CSV Hospitality, based in San Francisco which builds, owns and manages hotel properties throughout the US.
With Meg’s background, experience and graceful approach to life, we could not be more pleased to have her onboard. You will find that Meg certainly does live up to Prudential Real Estates criteria of “professionals you can count on”.

What Evan's clients have to say |
Aloha. I know how important Realtor's character and service can be to his clients' experience in any real estate transaction so I'll tell you a bit about myself and I hope that I'll get the opportunity of getting to know you too.
I am originally from the Central Coast of California, where I built homes to put myself through school. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I spent a few years traveling and learning about the world through experience and interaction. My travels landed me in Hawaii and I began to set my roots down. I love my job and am proud to have worked for over five years as a Realtor in Hawaii. The climate, scenery, and overall quality of life are incredible and I feel fortunate to call Hawaii my home. My clients enjoy the luxury of having a young, energetic, and responsive agent with 10 years of knowledge and experience building homes. I have active interests in art, good books, sports, and horticulture. I am involved in the local soccer and art community and spend time playing soccer, surfing, gardening, and diving when the workday is done. I have a PitLab mix named Daryl who keeps me company at work and at play.
I look forward to putting my energy and experience in Hawaii to work for you. Your real estate needs, afterall, are my mission.
Yours in Real Estate,

Casey Cantwell was born and raised in the Yakima Valley of Washington State by loving Canadian parents. She has spent many years living and traveling between British Columbia, Canada and Washington State. She graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington with a BA in Public Relations and a minor in Philosophy. Upon graduation she decided to put her degree to good use by traveling and exploring different parts of the world.
In 1995 she founded and developed a nationally recognized brand name bakery product called Bite Me, Inc! It was a simple operation that started with door to door sales that Casey turned into a nationally recognized brand name selling to high end grocery markets and coffee chains throughout the U.S. During the course of the business she designed and implemented national distribution, marketing and product sales strategies that increased sales 300% in 12 months and developed excellent relationships with vendors, manufacturers and distributors ensuring that output was high quality and orders were delivered on time. After nine years of being the "Cookie Lady" she successfully designed and implemented an exit strategy and successfully sold the company to a "Wonderful" person who continues do extremely well and thrives in the business today.
After selling her wholesale bakery, Casey managed customer relations and brand promotions for wine retailers as a representative of one of the largest privately owned companies in Washington State. She would analyze sales goals and marketing strategies to create high impact promotional displays that merchandised and built specific brands and increased sales.
During this time she decided she needed to revisit Hawaii because the first time she sat on the beach in Hawaii she had a profound experience. The girl that "had" to see the world suddenly felt there was no place else to go…this was it. The insatiable travel bug had been squelched. "Looking out on the horizon I felt a profound sense of peace and it was the first time in my life I didn't feel the 'pull' to have to go find what else is out there in the world", Casey said. I just wanted to stay put." Needing to revisit Hawaii she discovered that feeling was real and not a passing fancy. She felt that she did not want to wait until she retired to enjoy paradise and that she was still young enough to learn how to surf and enjoy everything Hawaii has to offer. The quality of life here in unsurpassable and that is when she realized that real estate would be her next designated step. Finding other people in this world that perfect place to call home.
I am very happy to have found Prudential Orchid Isle Properties. To be aligned with a company that represents the highest quality of standards and integrity in the market is an honor and I am excited to share this experience with clients and friends to make the home buying and selling process as easy and enjoyable as it can and should be.

Life is such an adventure! Go west, go west has been my lifelong mantra but I have finally gone as far west as I care to and stay within the United States of America. I was born in our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C. and was raised in that area during my childhood. After high school my journey began with my move to Southern California where I lived for over 20 years. This is where I raised my family. I am the proud mom of two grown sons, Brian and Bradley, both of whom continue to live in California. Finally, the call to move west struck me once again and I moved to the Big Island in 1998. I am very blessed that I met and married a local man, Gerard Lee Loy. We passionately follow UH Football and, of course, the Redskins. I have been a lifelong fan of the Redskins. That alone has taught me about loyalty. We are also both heavily involved with paddling on Hilo Bay. I continue as the secretary for Puna Canoe Club. I am also proud to be a member of the Zonta Club of Hilo, an organization of business and professional women around the world providing service and advocacy through projects to improve the health, education, economic and political status of women and girls.
Real Estate became a part of my life about 15 years ago. I am very familiar with Association management having been a community association manager for 5 years in Hilo. That training has helped me to know most of the condo properties here in town, as well as, many of the subdivisions in East Hawaii. In 2004, I moved back to full time real estate sales. Currently, I am heavily involved with REO properties, representing many residential properties for many different banks. I have been doing this for the past 3 years.
My goal in real estate is to provide my clients the best representation possible from beginning to end. |

I came here from Ontario, Canada in 1996 to escape the cold and have been a Big Island Resident ever since. I entered real estate after 8 years experience in the construction and building industry, where I met my husband who is a Hilo native and General Contractor. In our spare time we are involved in a nonprofit dedicated to bringing affordable housing to low income families through the training and counseling of teenagers in a construction capacity.
I am passionate and enthusiastic about my career in Real Estate. I strive for excellence in what I do and constantly want to better myself. To this end education is very important to me. Just ask me what class I am signed up for next.
I feel that I have been blessed through the experience of being a Realtor. I truly love what I do and would consider it my privilege in working with you. I am a multi-million dollar producer and treat every transaction, big or small with the highest degree of professionalism. Energetic and organized my passion is to make your dreams a reality.

Patti Kam looks out at the beautiful land in wonder and awe. She watches the palm fronds sway in the gentle breeze, while the lava field stretches out to the horizon. Her hands are stretched out, like she’s taking a picture but she’s really painting a scene. You see, one of her hobbies is to create homes as unique as the environment while preserving the natural character of the land. Anyone who knows this local businesswoman knows that she has a passion for her community and strives to safeguard the integrity of the Hilo area.
A Native Perspective
To understand Patti’s passion for this area, you have to know she’s a native Hawaiian. She’s proud of her heritage. She remembers when her family moved to the mainland and how happy she was when they came back. And now, Patti has called Hilo home since 1990. “I love this area so much,” she says. “I strive to improve the quality of life and sustain the natural beauty.”
A Hawaiian Pace of Life
Patti values and respects the natural character that is so resplendent in the rainforests, lava fields and beaches of Hawaii Island. There’s a sincere sense of conviction for her when it comes to ensuring this land does not lose its distinct qualities and rural appeal. Patti moved here from Oahu, so she could soak up the relaxed style that tries to stay true to the classic Hawaiian pace of life.

Born and raised in Hilo Hawaii, Anne Gonzales is very much in tune with the island life-style. Anne has 4 sons, all also born and raised in Hilo.
Anne came to Prudential Orchid Isle Properties after 11 years in escrow where she excelled to the position of escrow officer. Her many years in escrow made her the ideal choice to represent our busy firm with poise, grace, her proven skill at multi-tasking and, of course, vast knowledge of real estate transactions.
We are delighted to have Anne join us as our Executive Assistance and Office Manager.

A native Californian born in North Hollywood, Syleste always knew that Hawaii was her true home. Her aunt established residence in the islands in the 1930's and the connection was always in her heart. Of her first visit to the islands in the 1960's, she said "I remember distinctly stepping off the plane and that first breath of the air, I felt Iike I had come home".
While in high school in Southern California, she ventured into a modeling career and eventually became involved in the film and television industry. She quit her profession when she married a member of the then popular singing group "The Association". She spent several years touring with the band and enjoying the many beautiful towns and cities across the nation.
After her daughter was born, she worked part-time in feature film promotions. As her daughter grew older she wanted to work from home and began her own company creating interior accent pieces and eventually was lead into interior decorating. Once her child hit middle school, she obtained a Series Seven license (stockbroker) and became responsible for the set-up of a newly constructed securities office in a major financial center and was the branch manager's right hand.
After her family moved to Hilo in the early 1980's, she went on board with a local office of a Securities firm. Next she took a step into the radio industry where she sold advertising, wrote and produced radio spots and had a Saturday Morning radio show. In 1989 she won The National Exchange Clubs Project of the Year Award for for her Prevention of Child Abuse Campaign.
With a broad background in the entertainment field, it was a natural step into her position with Prudential Orchid Isle Properties as Director of Marketing. Syleste was actively involved with the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors, she was awarded Realtor-Associate of the Year in 1995 for her community participation and for regenerating the dwindling interest in the boards membership meetings. Her ideas created record breaking attendance among board members. The most rewarding aspect was raising funds for the homeless and needy and donated through Care-a-van and Habitat for Humanity. In 1997, she won Prudential's nation-wide "Ad Focus" award for the best marketing idea and best use of marketing dollars.
In 2002, Syleste co-chaired a fundraiser for the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo, rasing over $36,000 for the museum. She served on the Board of Directors for Destination Hilo 2005 & 2006 and chaired the Marketing Committee 2006/2007. She conceived a new look for their logo and developed the concept and was the coordinator for a self guided "Historic Site Map" of Hilo. In addition she served on the Website Committe for the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce.
An artisan of many mediums, she likens marketing to that of creating a quilt, "there are a number of small steps that comprise the final product". Syleste says she is happiest when creating, be it an ad campaign, piece of jewelry or entertaining friends at home, she remarked "when the creative energy is flowing through me I am completely fulfilled". |
